🇫🇷 En Egypte, à l’époque romaine, les linceuls sont plus ornés qu’aux périodes précédentes : ils remplacent souvent les sarcophages. Suivant une composition sans équivalent aux époques antérieures, sur de nombreux linceuls de la nécropole d’Antinoé, le défunt, représenté vêtu d’une tunique grecque, est peint en buste à l’intérieur d’une chapelle. Il paraît ainsi avoir été transfiguré en dieu (Osiris ?) et prêt à recevoir un culte. Ici, la fillette porte des boucles d’oreilles et un vêtement. La coiffure rase est complétée par une mèche tombant derrière l’oreille droite, à la manière de la mèche de l’enfance dans l’iconographie traditionnelle pharaonique. Elle tient un signe ânkh (le souffle de vie) et une grenade, liés respectivement aux croyances égyptiennes et grecques. - 🌎 ENG In Egypt, during the Roman period, shrouds are more decorated than before: they often replace sarcophagi. Her shaved head has a lock falling behind the right ear, reminiscent of the Sidelock of Youth from traditional pharaonic iconography.
