Avez-vous déjà remarqué ce détail sur la façade du Pavillon Mollien ? 🧐➡️ - 🔎 Dès 1852, Napoléon III entreprend ce qui constitue le plus grand remaniement architectural dans l’histoire du palais du Louvre, voulant attacher son nom à la réalisation du « grand dessein » initié par Henri IV. L’aile Richelieu sort de terre et la Grande Galerie est doublée notamment par la construction du Pavillon Mollien. - 🚂 Il faut alors, dans la conception des décors extérieurs, exalter les arts mais aussi l’industrie, particulièrement en cette fin de XIXe siècle. Il n’est donc pas surprenant de retrouver à plusieurs reprises sur les façades une locomotive, introduisant la Science et l’Industrie, comme par exemple sur ce relief réalisé par Jean Marcellin en 1857. - - - - 🌎 Wednesday, it’s #LouvreHistory!
